Fourteen Nights privacy policy
Last updated: 1 November 2026
The short version
- Everything you tell Fourteen Nights stays on your phone.
- We don't have servers, and the app sends nothing to us or to anyone else.
- No account. No ads. No analytics. No tracking.
- To delete it all, use Settings → Start over, or delete the app.
- If you email us, we see your email. That's the only time we get anything from you.
Who we are
Fourteen Nights is made by Lewis King ("we", "us"). Contact: hello@fourteennights.com.
[EU REPRESENTATIVE / UK REPRESENTATIVE, if required. See the note at the end.]
What the app keeps on your phone
To build your plan, the app stores these things in its own storage on your phone:
- Your answers: an optional first name, your age group, your usual times, your work pattern, and the life situations you choose. Some of these are about health. For example: pregnancy, snoring, pain, menopause, your cycle, and conditions such as epilepsy. You only answer what applies, and you can skip the name.
- Your check-ins: the times you went to bed, fell asleep, woke and got up, how rested you felt, and whether last night's step helped.
- Your plan and settings: your sleep hours, your steps, your reminder choices.
- Notes you write in the "What would make it better?" box. A copy stays on your phone. The app never sends it. If you choose to email it, see "If you email us" below.
- Whether you have bought the full plan.
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. We can't see it, and so we can't sell it, share it or use it for anything.
Your phone's own backup (for example iCloud or a computer backup) may include the app's data, depending on your phone's settings. That backup is between you and Apple, Google or whoever runs it.
What the app reads from your phone
The app reads your time zone, region, language, clock format (12- or 24-hour) and temperature unit. It uses them, on your phone, to show times the way you expect and to fit your plan to your season and daylight.
It does not ask for your location, and it does not use GPS, your contacts, your photos, your microphone or your health apps.
Reminders
If you turn reminders on, the app asks for permission to show notifications. The reminders are set on your phone and shown by your phone. They don't go through any server. You can turn them off in the app's Settings or in your phone's settings.
Buying the full plan
Payments are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your card or payment details. The store tells the app whether you have bought the full plan, so it can unlock it and restore it.
Apple and Google handle your purchase under their own privacy policies. They send us sales reports so we can be paid. These show things like the country and the amount, not who you are.
[IF A BILLING SERVICE SUCH AS REVENUECAT IS ADDED: name it here, say what it receives (a random ID and your purchase record), and update the store privacy answers. See `store/listing/privacy-answers.md`.]
Ratings and reviews
The app may ask once if you'd like to rate it. If you say yes, your phone shows the store's own rating box. Your rating goes to Apple or Google, under their policies.
What Apple and Google may share with us
Apple and Google give developers summary numbers, such as downloads and sales by country. If you have agreed in your phone's settings to share app analytics or crash reports with developers, they may also send us crash reports. These don't include what you've told the app. We use them only to fix problems.
If you email us
The feedback screen opens your own email app with your note filled in. You see exactly what will be sent, and nothing goes unless you press send.
If you contact us at hello@fourteennights.com, or tap "Email it to us" on the feedback screen, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to fix problems you tell us about. Please don't send health details unless you want us to read them.
- Legal basis (UK and EU): our legitimate interest in answering you.
- How long we keep it: up to 12 months after our last reply, then we delete it.
- Who else sees it: only our email provider, Google (Gmail), which stores it for us. It may be stored outside your country. Where the law needs it, we rely on the provider's standard safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share your personal information, as "sell" and "share" are defined in California law.
- We don't show ads or use advertising IDs.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't use AI or chat services in the app. Your plan is worked out on your phone.
- We don't build a profile of you anywhere but on your own phone.
Deleting your data
- Settings → Start over wipes your answers, check-ins and plan from the app.
- Deleting the app removes everything it stored on that phone.
- Your purchase is kept by Apple or Google, so you can restore it on a new phone with the same store account.
- To delete emails you've sent us, email hello@fourteennights.com.
Your rights
Because your app data never leaves your phone, you already have it and control it. For anything we hold (only emails you've sent us), you can ask us to show it, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Email hello@fourteennights.com. We'll reply within one month (45 days in California). We won't treat you differently for asking.
You can also complain to a data protection regulator:
- UK: the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
- EU and EEA: the data protection authority where you live.
- Australia: the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
- Elsewhere: your local privacy regulator.
California and other US states: in the last 12 months we have collected only identifiers and message content from people who emailed us, for the reasons above. We have not sold or shared any personal information, and we don't collect sensitive personal information or consumer health data through the app. Washington's My Health My Data Act and similar state laws cover health data that a company collects; the app's health answers stay on your phone, and we do not collect them.
Children
Fourteen Nights is for adults aged 18 and over. It is not meant for children, and we don't knowingly collect anything from anyone under 18 (or under 13, as defined in the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act). If you think a child has emailed us, tell us and we'll delete it.
Security
Your data is as safe as your phone. Use a passcode, Face ID or fingerprint lock to protect it. The app stores data in its own private space that other apps can't read.
Medical information
Fourteen Nights is a wellness guide, not a medical service. The app is not run by a doctor or health provider, and what you enter is not a medical record.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how the app handles data, for example by adding analytics, we will update this policy and the store privacy labels first, and tell you in the app before the change reaches your phone. The date at the top shows the latest version.
